The Board of Directors trusts everyone enjoyed a great start to the new year and new decade.

Now that we are approaching the official start of spring (yes, 2 out of 3 groundhogs said it was coming early this year) please keep the following in mind if you are planning to use Yarrow Lane in the coming weeks:

  • There has been a lot of snowmobile activity on the road this winter. Our neighbours across Jarvis Lake are taking advantage of the thick ice to enjoy zipping around the lake and using Yarrow Lane to get to the Iron Rooster Restaurant on Highway 7. They aren't causing any damage, however they are packing the snow down and so it may take longer to melt during a spell of warm weather.
  • Ice, hidden under the snow, in particular for the next few weeks, is the biggest hazard on the road, and especially the hills.
  • Please tread lightly - I know we're all looking forward to starting another great year at our cottages, but as the frost is coming out of the ground, heavy traffic on the road will cause ruts that are expensive to repair.
  • Please be safe - stay away from the ice on the lakes and ponds. As spring runoff starts, the ice will begin to weaken from underneath.
  • Please have a cell phone with you at all times - if something happens, you need to be able to contact someone for help.
  • Keep an eye out for debris - the ice and winds of the winter have brought down branches and the occasional tree; the trees have been moved off the road but some branches may still be lurking in the snow.

  • Road Work
We will post updates here about times when there will be work being done on the road. As noted in the October 2019 update, road work to remove 'nuggets' from the road to help with grading and ditch cleanup will be happening once the frost is out of the ground and the equipment needed can be arranged.

Road Fees for 2020 are due on (or before) the 2020 AGM: May 17th at noon
In preparation for the AGM in 2020, the road fee amounts have been updated on the online payment page to reflect the outcomes of the Board of Directors meeting in September last year. A reminder that we still have a number of members (AHC, SM, GH, DB, JM) who have not yet paid their 2018 and 2019 fees. Back due fee payments must made by Interac e-transfer to the President. If you don't know how to do that, please check your email for the President's contact information.

Thanks to the three members who took advantage of our new online road fee payment feature - seems to be working like a charm. For anyone who has yet to send in their road fees, please do so as quickly as possible. And a big thanks to everyone that's up to date with their fees.
